To file case against Chiru

The IV Additional Munsif Magistrate has ordered the Kazipet police to register a case against Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi under the SC, ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act on a complaint filed by a Scheduled Caste leader that he referred to the community by the name of his caste.

Magistrate G. Bhavani Chandra, gave this direction following a complaint by Arepally Kumaraswamy (34) of Karimnagar district, who claimed to be the president of Andhra Pradesh Reservation Parirakshana Samiti. The magistrate wanted the police to investigate into the allegation, register a case under Section 3 (1) (10) of SC, ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and Sections 337, 338,506 and 507 of IPC and submit a report by December 29.

Accusation

Mr. Kumaraswamy said that when he and his associates were waiting at the KUC junction in Kazipet with placards on November 3, Mr. Chiranjeevi who had always promised to work for uplift of the weaker sections called him and enquired as to why they were holding the placards. When Mr. Kumaraswamy tried to remind the PR chief of his promise,Mr. Chiranjeevi who was in his vehicle reportedly said he had nothing to talk to them if they belonged to the Madiga community. He was also accused of asking his driver to move ahead. The complainant and his associate were injured in the process. Mr. Kumaraswamy lodged a complaint with the police who reportedly referred him to MGM Hospital for treatment. - (Hindu)
