Case registered against Chiru

SANGAREDDY: The One Town police of Siddipet in Medak district on Monday registered cases under different sections against Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi.

According to Sub-Inspector K. Surender Reddy, the police registered cases against Chiranjeevi under section 188 (violating the High Court directions), section 341(creating hurdles for the smooth flow of traffic) and section 34 (gathering more than three people) of IPC and section 3(5) (nuisance) under Town Nuisance Act.

When asked about the delay in registering cases, Mr. Surender Reddy said that it took time to gather evidence.[Hindu]

Parvathy Omanakuttan crowns Miss South India

Hailing from God’s own country, Kerala, Parvathy Omana Kuttan won the Femina Miss India contest held on April, 2008. She carried forward the legacy of beauty queens from India like Reita Faria (1966), Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan (1994), Priyanka Chopra (2000), Diana Hayden (1997) and Yukta Mookhey (1999) by being the 1st runner-up of Miss World 2008.

In these days of heroine’s being utilized only for glamour roles, a disparate actress Tamanna retorts, “I am not a glam prop in my movies.”

Budding actress Tamanna debuted to Telugu cinema in ‘Sri’ paired up with Manoj. A bad start as the movie turned out to be a disaster at the box office. Yet, she made a comeback with ‘Happy Days’ directed by Shekhar Kammula. The blockbuster flick of 2007 bought wide fame for the actress and baked her in glory.

Since then she has been busy acting in both Telugu and Tamil in a number of movies. Her upcoming movie in Telugu is ‘Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam’ opposite Siddharth.

During a recent talk with the star, she expressed her choicest roles and her desire to enact characters which could be admired by family and youngsters alike. My presence on screen should be elegant and not revealing which might embarrass the audience.

On a question over the glam part, she said,” I would like to play in roles that give me an opportunity to act and attain a name as an artist. ‘Being an Ash lookalike has helped me’ - Sneha Ullal

Her uncanny resemblance to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has made more news than her films. A Salman Khan discovery, Sneha Ullal, who debuted at 17 in Lucky: No Time For Love a couple of years ago, didn’t seem to have luck on her side in B-town.

Now, two years later, Sneha is considered hot property in the south, especially in the Telugu industry. With two consecutive hits in Ullasanga Utsahanga and Nene Meeku Telusa, Sneha’s scored some plum projects in Tollywood. She’s just made a special appearance in a song for Nagarjuna’s King and is also playing his leading lady in Current.

So, did Sneha move down south because she isn’t doing well in Bollywood? “It’s just that I was too young to display any talent when I debuted. I was 17 then, and didn’t want to work too hard. So, I groomed myself for two years and then decided to do south films. I was getting some very good roles from the south and decided to exploit opportunities here. Besides being a good training ground, the southern industry is also more professional when compared to Bollywood,” she explains.

So, did she make a mistake when she debuted so young? “In Lucky…, I played a school kid and I also didn’t learn anything from that film. I looked kiddish and was also confused at that phase. So, I took a break to look more mature and improve my acting skills. I’ve lost two years now and don’t want to lose more time,” admits Sneha.

But being a Salman Khan find, and having done Aryan with Sohail Khan, why didn’t she cash in on her rapport with the Khan khandaan? “Salman’s always there for me and I’m still in touch with him. But now, I want to make it on my own — without anyone’s backing,” asserts the Mangalorean girl.

What about her reputation as an Ash lookalike — did it help her career? “It was much talked about, so it must’ve somewhere! Yeah, it definitely gave me the fame needed for a newbie, but I don’t want to rely on that anymore. In fact, when I met Ash at an awards function, I apologised for all the lookalike hype around me. She said it’s all media created and advised me to get used to it,” says the actress.

While Sneha promises to stick around in the south, she’s also looking at a re-entry in Bollywood. “In B-town, if you’re in, you’re in. If you quit, you’re out. I’m getting a second chance to make a comeback and want to play it right henceforth. I have a couple of films lined up, so I’m looking forward to them,” she says.

As for the various camps and joining the bikini brigade, Sneha has some strong views. “I don’t think sleeping around can get you work. I only believe in choosing the right script. And while I won’t wear a churidar and be the quiet type, I also won’t resort to skin show. Also, no size zero for me. Hansika’s hattrick with Maska

"Touch wood I am on a hat trick," says the gorgeous Hansika Motwani, who is determined to offer variety to the audience and promises a swashbuckling role in her next release Maska.

"Definitely it will be different from my earlier roles since I dislike repeating myself," says the actress, who portrays ’contrasting’ shades in the much-awaited love story.

Surprisingly, she played a young sanyasin in her Tollywood debut Desamuduru. "Initially, I did have a few apprehensions but I trusted director Puri Jagannath and it paid off," she smiles. Going a step ahead in her other film Kantri she proved her midas touch. "I loved playing the magical role since director Meher Ramesh is one of the members of our gang comprising of Puri and Bunny," says the starlet.

Personally could she relate to these fantasy roles? "Not at all. I am not superstitious. For instance, after a couple of accidents during Maska, my mother has been forcing me to wear a sacred black thread but I haven’t agreed to it," she giggles. She describes Junior NTR as a "decent co-star" and Ram as a "true professional" to halt questions on her relationship with her co-stars.

Neethu Chandra’s allegation on Rajasekhar and Jeevitha

Neethu Chandra has made an allegation against Rajasekhar and Jeevitha Rajasekhar for harassing and abusing her in the sets. ’Satyameva Jayathe’ is Rajasekhar’s movie under progress, directed by his wife Jeevitha. Neethu is a part of the lead cast as a heroine who has recently made this report to a Mumbai based newspaper.

Reliable sources have confirmed the same and say that Neethu made this report about the ill treatment imposed on her by the makers of ’Satyameva Jayathe’. When she was dialed up to confirm the news, she retorted back with a yes.

Reportedly, the actress has said that she was forced to stay against her wish in a prolonged movie schedule for some 16 hours altogether. She was harassed to be in the sets for a dance sequence, even after she refused to enact due to a sprain in her foot. In the end, she also reported that director Jeevitha and her husband, actor Rajasekhar have abused her beyond limits.

The actress is said to be planning to file a case against them. To hear the other side of these complaints, the makers were contacted who denied all these allegations. We always treated her as one among us and not an artist, says the couple.

Saif Ali Khan hospitalised

Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan was Thursday admitted to the Lilavati hospital here after he complained of pain in his abdomen, hospital sources said.

"He is suffering from an intestine infection. The doctors are still conducting the tests. He will have to remain in the hospital for a few days," a hospital source told us.

In 2006, Saif underwent surgery in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur. He had complained of pain in the abdomen then too and the doctors had diagnosed he was suffering from appendicitis. [source: IANS]

Jr. NTR to pair up with Nayantara

Nacchavule gets good openings

The film Nacchavule was released Dec 19th 2008. The film stars as many as 60 new artists. The film is produced by Ramoji Rao and directed by Ravi Babu. The film’s publicity was low key and the posters showed only some monkeys, dogs and squirrels.

Despite the low key publicity, the film opened to good response. Most of the theaters reported house full collections. The Ushakiron Movies has a good reputation and this has helped the film in getting good openings. The film has also earned positive talk.

John Abraham: Initially, it was fun to be regarded as a ‘body beautiful’

You were away from Mumbai for eons… What were you doing in Philadelphia for so long?
John Abraham: Shooting, of course! For New York , Kabir Khan’s film. I was there for three long months and if it wasn’t for my parents, brother, sister-in-law and Bipasha visiting, I’d have gone crazy. When they all came to see me, I stopped feeling homesick. I was away for so long that sometimes when I woke up I forgot where I was. Before Philadelphia, I was in Miami shooting for Dostana for three months.

How was the shooting in Philadelphia?
John Abraham: Gruelling, but very satisfying. I shot the most emotionally and physically exhausting scenes of my life. Frankly, I haven’t done an action film since Dhoom . It’s a genre I really enjoy. New York has very effective action. I had a lot of running around to do, but I enjoyed myself. At this point of my career I just want to push myself beyond the limits.

Your ’briefs’ in Dostana created quite a stir. You seemed to be at your hottest best and flaunting it all, too.
John Abraham: Oh, those bold quotes and pictures were just endorsements for Dostana . But I’m never ashamed of talking about my body. Though at times I do feel like a meat shop. I am proud of my physique. But I’m also good with emotions. In fact, I perform the best when I’m unhappy. I function best when in angst.

Happy to be a gay icon?
John Abraham: I’ve been told that. And I accept it very graciously. But women have reacted as strongly to me in Dostana as men. Some have reacted to the sensuality; others to the fitness. But everyone has a query about my body. Very often I don’t know how to react. Initially, it was fun to be regarded as a ’body beautiful’. I wonder how audiences will react to my physicality in my next release "Aashayein" where I’ve lost 30 pounds!

Women object to vulgar ads of Neninthe

Director Puri Jagannath and producer Danayya are the target of the latest attack by some women’s organizations. The women activists are lived over the vulgar posters of the soon to be released film Neninthe.

The big flexi boards showing hero Ravi Teja and heroine Siya is intimate pose with scantily clad clothes is an insult to all women, say the activists.

The women have asked the producer and director to remove all the vulgar ads immediately. They warned that they will intensify their agitation if the boards are not removed forthwith. They have also warned that they will not allow the film to be screened at the theaters if the ads are not removed.

It remains to be seen if the protest by these women will have any effect or it will only act as free publicity for the film. Neninthe is hitting the screens tomorrow (December 18) with 250 prints.

The upcoming heroine, Bhargavi, was found murdered in her flat in Banjara hills on Tuesday. She played the second heroine in the hit film Ashta Chemma. She also acted in the popular serial Ammama.com and also took part in the talent hunt show AAta on Zee Telugu.

He is said to have helped Bhargavi with TV assignments. She later managed to bag roles in films. The success of Ashta Chemma made Bhargavi a busy actress and she started concentrating on her career.

This led to a sense of insecurity in Praveen. He felt that he was being deliberately ignored by Bhragavi. He could not bear to see Bhargavi, who he claims to have married in 2006, in the company of others. So he hatched a plan to teach her a lesson and he eliminated her in a cold blooded fashion.

Andamaina manasulo heroine Archana film career

In a span of two years, Archana has done two movies and appeared in several commercials, including one in which she appeared with Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

This small-town girl from Agra sure seems to be going places. “After my first Telugu film, Andamaina Manasulo, I did an art film in Hindi, Saancha — The Mould. I had to lose weight to play a 15-year-old girl in it. I was selected from among 200 girls. The movie has been selected for the Cannes and Dubai film festivals,” she says.

Circus will be Archana’s third film, but her first in Kannada. “I play Ganesh’s love interest in the film,” she says, adding that she never interacted much with the Golden Star during the shoot. “I’d heard a lot about him and his film, Mungaru Male. I was really happy to work with him. He’s very dedicated and I liked his professionalism. But Ganesh restricted himself to only hi and bye,” she says.

This upcoming actress loves everything about south Indian films. “I’ll soon sign a Tamil film opposite Dhanush,” says Archana, who’d also love to work with Surya. “I’ve watched his movie, Ghajini, with subtitles of course. He’s awesome,” she adds.
Coming from the north, how is she coping with so many different languages? “When I was shooting for Circus, I used to write the Kannada dialogues in Hindi and English. I’d usually use prompting, which helped me a lot. And I find Kannada the easiest of the southern languages to learn,” she says.

She moved to Mumbai one-and-a-half years ago and is now staying with her sister, Vandana, who’s also an actress. “Touchwood, I’m lucky. I haven’t faced any problems so far. But when I just started my career, people back home used to look down on me. But now the same crowd recognises me and says, ‘She’s our girl’,” says a triumphant Archana.

She was there shooting for a song for her debut Telugu film Neninthe with co-star Ravi Teja and director Puri Jagannath and other unit members. Luckily, the entire crew were still in their hotel packing, when the airport was seized by anti-government protestors and a couple of bombs exploded.

Salman doesn’t mind me working with other actors: Katrina

When you have Salman Khan for a boyfriend, it’s no surprise if you make newspaper headlines regularly. But Katrina Kaif has broken out of the girlfriend mould and managed to carve her own distinct identity with an incredible six hit films in two years. “I think my hard work over the last four years has paid off,” she smiles proudly.

While trade pundits call her a ‘lucky charm’, she objects to the tag. “It’s unfair. I don’t understand what people mean by luck. A film does well when it has a good script and good performances,” Kaif reasons.

With her next, Subhash Ghai’s Yuvvraaj, where she’s paired with her real-life lover, Kaif is confident about her good run at the box office continuing. “I play a cello player. Like all musicians, she turns to music during tough times.” Kaif, who played the piano as a child, was keen to learn a new instrument. “I was asked by Mr Ghai to learn to play the cello, just like I would learn a dance movement. I just followed instructions and was playing it even before the shoot began,” she shows off her soft smile again.

Kaif is known for subtlety but Yuvvraaj has the demure actress looking gorgeous. “The clothes have to be relevant to the story. In Austria, cellists dress in regal, classic gowns. Rocky S sourced a lot of my outfits from small Austrian boutiques and from designers like Gauri and Nainika Karan.”

This film is extra special to her because it’s her third with Salman but the first where she’s paired opposite him. “I hope its third time lucky for us,” she remarks casually. Kaif also admits she was anxious that their off-screen chemistry might make their on-screen pairing slightly uncomfortable.

“Sometimes when you know the person well, you tend to go overboard. But I was relieved to see the promos,” she says. The Britain-born actress is also seen speaking fluent Hindi in the promos. “But I can’t help the accent,” she complains. In an effort to blend into India, she’s also taken to the music of AR Rehman. “When I first came here, I found it difficult to understand his style. But it slowly grows on you. It’s timeless,” she says.

Kaif is modest enough to acknowledge good friend Akshay Kumar’s role in shaping her career. “Akshay has helped me a lot. I’m looking forward to our next, Priyadarshan’s De Dhana Dhan,” she says, and adds quickly, “And no, Salman doesn’t have a problem with me working with other actors.”

While directors like Imtiaz Ali, Yash Chopra and Raju Hirani are on her wish list, she’s happy to have bagged roles in Prakash Jha’s political potboiler Rajneeti, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani with Ranbir Kapoor and a Yashraj film. “I’ve done a variety of films to establish myself. But now, I want to play stronger characters. Katrina in 2009 is going to be different from Katrina in 2008,” she insists. We’re still not tired of the old Kat.

Fresh jitters for Balaiah

In a significant development with political implications, the government has launched an inquiry against the police officers who had investigated the case pertaining to the shootout at the house of actor Balakrishna four years ago. Cases had been filed against Balakrishna, his wife Vasundhara and driver Kankanaiah by the Central Crime Station, here, but all the accused had been acquitted by the court.

The government has instructed the Commissioner of Inquiries to figure ou twhether the police officers were lax in their investigation of the case and whether it resulted in filing a ’weak chargesheet’ against the actor.

Specifically the role of the investigating officer, assistant commissioner Chandramouli and two of his sub inspectors will be looked into. The instructions come close on the heels of Balakrishna joining active politics last fortnight and after he has positioned as the star campaigner for the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) at the Yuva Garjana of the party at Guntur.

It is believed that the Commissioner of Inquiries — Chandana Khan — has already begun her work and called for witnesses in the case to find out what happened on that fateful night in June 2004 in which two film personalities Bellamkonda Suresh and Satyanarayana Chowdary were allegedly shot at by Balakrishna at his Jubilee Hills residence.

Following a statement by the duo, Balakrishna was arrested by the police under section 307 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the IPC and section 25 and 27 of the Arms Act. Later his wife Vasundhara was booked for concealing evidence and driver Kankaiah for destroying evidence.

But in a dramatic turnaround, the two victims changed their statements later and said that though they were shot at and injured, they were not sure who had fired at them. This in the ultimate analysis had helped the accused go scot free.

The Commissioner of Inquiries has to specifically find out the circumstances under which the police officers allowed this change of statement and whether they challenged this in the court of law.

The Commissioner of Inquiries will not find her job easy and her first notice has already been ignored by the witnesses who were called to testify.

Analysts say that if Chandana Khan finds lapses in the police investigations, this will come in handy for the government to reopen the case and launch a fresh investigation. The government is also planning to go to the High court to appeal against the judgment of the sessions court acquitting the accused.

High level TDP sources when quizzed by TOI about their reaction to the happenings put up a brave front and said that there was nothing to worry. But sources say that this was only a public posture and privately the party bosses are quite worried about what may happen if the case is reopened.

YSR blows kisses to crowds, takes a dig at Chiranjeevi

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy Sunday hit back at actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi with sarcasm and reminded him that politics is not like acting in films.


After blowing kisses towards the crowd at Ankapalli in Visakhapatnam district, the chief minister remarked: "We don’t know twirling our moustaches and slapping our thighs. We only know how to love."

The chief minister was addressing a roadside meeting during his road-show in the coastal district on Sunday.

YSR, as the chief minister is popularly known by his initials, launched a counter-attack on Praja Rajyam Party chief Chiranjeevi, who is drawing huge crowds during his statewide yatra (tour).

While addressing a road-show in YSR’s hometown Pulivendula last week, Chiranjeevi had twirled his moustaches and slapped a thigh, re-enacting a scene from his film "Indra".

The ruling Congress party had reacted strongly to his gesture and said he was behaving like a "street rowdy".

Taking the war of words with Chiranjeevi to a new level, YSR took a dig at him for his gesticulations. "Politics is not like acting in films. A political leader needs guts to build irrigation projects," he said.

"Has anybody in the past dared to build such massive irrigation projects?" he asked the crowd while referring to an irrigation programme taken up by his government.

"Irrigation projects are necessary for cultivation, and cultivation of crops is a must for human sustenance," YSR said while targeting Chiranjeevi and Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu for criticising his government for building irrigation projects.

Sai Kiran Adavi debut directorial venture Vinayakudu released yesterday but got into contreversies on the first day itself. Hindu religion groups ABVP and Bhagarangdal yesterday strongly opposed hindu God’s name Vinayakudu for a romantic love story. They staged a dharna outside Venkatadri theatre, Dilshuknagar and also broke the glasses of the theatre. Dubai´s $1.5 billion Atlantis resort opens with lavish party

Dubai : The A-list celebrities came, they partied, and when the world’s biggest ever fireworks display began just after midnight, Atlantis was declared officially open and Dubai witnessed the most extravagant and expensive party in its history.

Over 2,000 of the world’s rich and famous were flown to Dubai on Thursday for the launch of the Atlantis Palm Jumeirah, a £1 billion (Rs 80 billion) mega-resort built on a man-made island shaped like a palm tree in the Persian Gulf.

At a time when recession, bailout and pink-slips are part of everyday lingo, there was little sign of parsimony as the organisers rolled out the red carpet — and presumably the cash as well — for the one-night party. The cost of the “freebie of the century”, according to London’s Daily Mail, was a mere £20 million, or Rs 160 crore.

No one paid for an air ticket and the travel bill itself was estimated to be £3 million (Rs 24 crore), the paper said. World’s top celebrities, including Robert De Niro, Charlize Theron, Lindsay Lohan, Janet Jackson, Dame Shirley Bassey, The Duchess of York, Michael Jordan, Chris Tucker and Lily Allen dined on signature dishes prepared by Atlantis’ multi-Michelin-starred chefs Santi Santamaria, Michel Rostang, Giorgio Locatelli and Nobu Matsuhisa.

According to industry scuttlebutt, Shriya Saran is approaching Telugu filmmakers to grab a couple of offers.

"She has been in touch with her producer friends for quite some time," says an industry source, who claims that with her Bollywood and Hollywood dreams getting shattered, she will make a comeback. Pretty woman? Yup, sure. Mrs Salman Khan some day? Not sure. Actress of calibre? Umm, let’s see, it’s possible. Cool conversationalist? Yes, yes. So, here’s Katrina Kaif in conversation with us.



Q: Salman Khan has mellowed down. Are you responsible for that?



I don’t think so. If he has mellowed down, that’s wonderful. On occasion, the media can be (struggles to find the apt word) aggressive and write something hurtful. But at the end of the day, there’s no need to be upset. I’m glad that he’s more comfortable with the media.. because I think no one is against him.



Q: How would you describe your chemistry with him?



(Pause) What do you mean?



Q: I’m talking on screen, of course.



See, it’s being said that Yuvvraaj is the first film in which we’ve been teamed romantically. But I would like to point out that I’m in the film 100 per cent because of Subhash Ghai.. and not because of the pairing, which is secondary. And yeah, I think the chemistry between us is very spontaneous. It doesn’t look forced.



Q: Has the off-screen chemistry helped in achieving that?



(Smiles) Since we’ve known each other for many years now, there’s an equation. He’s a very, very special person, you have to give him a lot of leeway, space and understanding. And that’s exactly what I do when we work together as well.



Q: He’s even signed on Zarine Khan in Veer who looks like you.



(Laughs) Isn’t that flattering? I think that’s so sweet. I even helped her with her make-up during her screen test. She’s a lovely girl and I hope she does very well.. though I don’t think she looks like me. But if Salman misses me and wants to work with girls who look like me, that’s so sweet.



Q: You’ve said he is very unromantic.



I was speaking as someone who knows him, and not in an intimate way.



Q: You were supposed to do all your interviews together, but now you are..



(Cuts in) No that wasn’t the promotional strategy at all. I’ve always given interviews on my own. But yeah, we are doing a few interviews together for news channels in Delhi. Having said that, Salman’s too unpredictable. (Laughs) I’m afraid to do interviews with him.. you never know what he’ll end up saying.

Q: Subhash Ghai has said that there’s not much of a role for the female lead in Yuvvraaj.



Now, where did you get that? He’s a legendary director and has a reputation for showcasing his heroines. I wanted that experience, even though I knew I wasn’t the central character. (Laughs) Salman has pointed out too that Yuvraaj can’t obviously be about me.

Q: The critics had written you off as just a pretty face.. did that hurt?



I don’t think I’ve faced an unreasonable amount of criticism. My initial goal was to do many commercial movies, so I could be well known in the interiors of India. I’ll be experimenting with performance-based roles in 2009. I don’t want the audience to just think that she dances well and looks pretty.

Q: Priyanka Chopra has alluded to you.. without taking your name.. when she said she would rather be known for her performances than for giving seven hits.



(Smiles) I see everything in life with the glass half-full, not half-empty. If you think everyone wants to attack you personally, you’ll be a very lonely and unhappy person. So I would like to think she wasn’t talking about me.

Q: Have you come to terms with catfights?



Most of these are egged on by the media. I didn’t come in with a big launch film which shot me to the top immediately. I had to take baby steps, and now I’m being offered good work..so I’m very happy.

Q: You did the Temptations tour with Shah Rukh Khan. Did you discuss the Salman Khan fight with him?



No, of course not. He’s a thorough professional…we did a great show together. In fact, it was the first time I went on stage without getting the jitters.



Q: Have you tried to resolve the issue between them?



I don’t know, baba. This isn’t about me.. it’s about Salman and Shah Rukh. I know Salman for many years but I don’t control him. (Smiles) I don’t even have control over him. It’s a matter he has to sort out on his own.

Q: Has the recession affected your price?



No, not yet. I don’t think it will either, since I didn’t over-inflate my price.



Q: Are you aware that Bipasha Basu will be paid a higher fee that you for performing at a hotel on New Year’s eve?



To be honest, this game is very silly and childish. Very, very childish. I don’t like it. I have six sisters and several responsibilities. I have to make decisions which secure my future. If someone gets less money, more money or the same money, good for her. It’s not a game. I don’t care who is getting paid what. I don’t care who is doing what.



Q: Is it possible to sustain yourself in Bollywood with such an enclosed attitude?



Why not? I’m not Mother Teresa. I have my insecurities and problems like any normal person. I won’t sustain myself anywhere by pulling others down.

Q: Arbaaz Khan is producing a movie in which he wanted to cast you opposite Salman Khan. It’s rumoured that Malaika Arora-Khan wasn’t happy about this.



That’s probably the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. I can’t think of one reason why she’d have a problem with me.


Q: You seem to know how to discourage controversies.



Why would I want to encourage controverises? A lot of people have asked me how I manage to stay out of drama in my personal life. It’s because I want to avoid drama at any cost.



Q: Okay, you’ve sent your sister Isabel for an acting course to New York. Has she expressed interest in Bollywood?



I haven’t sent her.. she wanted to go, I just helped her to get admission. It’s a wonderful opportunity for her. She doesn’t know what she wants to do.. she may try her luck in Hollywood as well.



Q: Do any of your other five sisters want to act too?



(Laughs) No, they are all very settled in their respective fields. They have absolutely no interest in all this. Isabel is the only one who likes being around here.



Q: It’s rumoured that you want to marry after you finish your current assignments.



That’s ridiculous. That’s people talking nonsense, as they usually do. I have six films on hand. I’ve agreed to do four more movies.. so it will take me a while to finish them.



Q: Will you ever talk openly about your relationship with Salman Khan?



(Smiles) Never.

India beat England lead series 3-0

Kanpur: India overcame a wobbly start and some anxious moments before beating England by 16 runs via Duckworth-Lewis method in a closely-contested third cricket one-dayer to take a comfortable 3-0 lead in the seven-match series here on Thursday.

Chasing 241 for a victory, the hosts were less dominating but were conscious of the Duckworth-Lewis requirement as they scored 198 for five in 40 overs before fading light necessitated an early end to the game.

India needed to score 183 for five in 40 overs under the D-L method and were declared the winners when bad light came into play.

For the hosts, Virender Sehwag topscored with 68, while Yuvraj Singh scored a brisk 38 off just 31 balls. Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni remained unbeaten on 29 to steer the team to victory in a more keenly contested tussle at the Green Park stadium.

After the early morning haze delayed the start and reduced the tie to a 49-overs-a-side affair, England captain Kevin Pietersen won the toss and had little hesitation in opting to bat first.

India now need to win the next match in Bangalore on Sunday to clinch the series by taking an unassailable 4-0 lead.

A rejigged batting order saw Ravi Bopara (60) walking out to open with Ian Bell (46) and the openers put on 79 runs before England lost the plot in the face of some disciplined bowling by the Indians and folded for 240 in 48.4 overs.

For India, Harbhajan Singh stood out, scalping three for 31, joining the 200 ODI wicket club in the process.

For the home team’s in-form and awe-inspiring batting order, the target of 241 should have been a stroll in the park. However small the target, they still needed to score those runs but a jittery start jolted them out of complacency.

A reckless Gautam Gambhir (14) and Suresh Raina (1) perished in quick succession and for India, reduced to 34 for two inside 10 overs, the chase for a modest target wasn’t a cakewalk anymore.

Andrew Flintoff banged his fifth delivery short and Gambhir charged out only to guide it to third man where a grateful Broad pouched the catch.

Flintoff tormented Suresh Raina (1) as well but it was Broad who got the left-hander when the batsman, rooted in the crease, dragged a ball onto his stumps.

In deteriorating light, Dhoni and Yusuf Pathan (12 not out) played smart cricket to keep the team ahead in the Duckworth-Lewis chart before bad light interrupted match.

Earlier, for the first time in the series, England got off to a strong, if not spectacular, start with the Bell-Bopara duo raising 79 runs for the first wicket inside 15 overs.

It was a marked improvement by the visitors, considering the fact that the opening stand had yielded 12 and six runs respectively, in the last two matches.

With Zaheer Khan and Munaf Patel maintaining a claustrophobic line, runs were not easy to come by, let alone boundaries. To their credit, Bopara and Bell did not panic.

The run rate was nothing to write home about but England crossed the 50-mark in 11 overs without any loss. Bell greeted the erratic Ishant Sharma with two boundaries in the first over, upsetting his rhythm by repeatedly stepping out of the crease. With Bell on song, Bopara also chimed in. The Essex player proved the perfect foil for his partner and helped himself to occasional boundaries, including a couple of streaky ones.

A change in end and Munaf finally drew the first blood in the 15th over when Bell perished caught behind, four-run shy of the half-century.. Bells 47-ball 46 included eight hits to the fence.

With the opener laying the perfect foundation for a big total, England required a big knock from either Pietersen (13) or Flintoff (26) but both let the side down.

Pietersen hoicked Yuvraj Singh for a massive six to signal his intention but it was the same unbridled aggression which did him in when he went for an encore of the shot, this time against Harbhajan and ended up finding Zaheer at long-off.

Harbhajan sorted out Paul Collingwood (1) with a doosra and almost caught Flintoff off his own bowling with the ball dropped marginally short.

Yuvraj ended Boparas vigil by luring him out of the crease and Dhoni had a world of time to whip off the bail. Bopara hit eight fours en route to his 82-ball 60. With Flintoff still in the crease, Englands hopes of a big total was very much alive, till Yusuf Pathan trapped him with his second ball to pre-empt any batting fireworks by the talismanic all-rounder.

Owais Shah (40) added 36 runs with Samit Patel (29) before holing out in the deep, giving Harbhajan his 200th ODI wicket, but that was not enough in the end to reach the 250-mark.
