Major setback for Allu Aravind

Allu Aravind had to bite the dust in the Andhra Pradesh Film Chamber of Commerce elections held here on Sunday. While Mr Aravind managed 48 votes, the winner, Mr K.S. Rama Rao, romped home with 184 votes. Chiranjeevi’s group, which already had the Movie Artists Association (MAA) in its kitty, tried its best to win the chamber elections in the run up to the launch of his party. "The defeat has shocked Chiranjeevi’s bastion," industry sources said.

The fight between two castes for supremacy resulted in Mr Arvind’s defeat. While Chiranjeevi and his brothers led one group, the other is headed by the big producers who belong to another caste. Industry sources said with an intention to halt Chiranjeevi’s domination, the producers came together. There was a heated argument after the election as distributors and exhibitors raised objections on producers holding the chamber president post all the time. But at the end all the groups compromised and accepted Mr K.S. Rama Rao as the next president.
