Story: The movie is about Raj (Ranbir Kapoor) and his
relationships with the 3 women in his life. 1) Mahi
(Minissha Lamba) is sweet, innocent, romantic and lives in
the DDLJ world. 2) Radhika (Bipasha Basu) is sexy and smart,
A girl of today, and a struggling actress who is looking to
make a mark in the film industry. 3) Gayatri (Deepika
Padukone) is a cab driver in Australia who sets her own
rules and regulations, She does not believe in marriage
either. In simple terms, Raj ditches two girls and is dumped
by the third. Whom does he finally marry forms the story.
Performances: Ranbir as Raj is wonderful, Minissha and
deepika are ok but Bipasha steels the show with more screen
time. The story is very simple- narrated well in the first
but falls flat in the second half. The Cinematography is
good with supportive editing. The Music is Average with
couple of good song The production values are fantastic.
The direction is good in parts.
Analysis: Characteristically the story is episodic in
format and spread over a time span to pass off as distinct
flirtatious flings in the life of the guy at different
instances of his adolescence.
Directorially, Siddharth Raj Anand offers stunning visuals
and some really fine performances, but is letdown by the
script, He hasn’t come out of his previous Scripts
“Salaam Namaste” and “Tara Rum Pum”.
Vishal-Shekhar’s Music has the lively spunk to support the
story. The musical interludes derived from R D Burman’s
(Hum Kum Nahin) composition jazz up the background
score. Cinematography is very much in sink with the mood of
the film and is a visual treat to watch the beautiful
locales.
Ranbir Kapoor is marvelous, An
incredible actor. One will run out of adjectives and
personifications describing his performance. He is improving
from Movie to movie. He is the next lover Boy in the
bollywood after Salman (Maine Pyar kiya), Shahrukh
Khan(DDLJ), Saif Ali Khan(Hum Tum). Depika’s role is very
limited when compared to Bips and Minissha. You would be
aware that Katrina Kaif was also a part of Bachna Ae
Haseeno. Her role was eventually chopped off as the runtime
was going well past 3 hours.
On
the whole, BACHNA AE HASEENO has an interesting first half,
but a weak second hour spoils the show. It has tough chances
of sustaining. Multiplexes at some big centres would be
better, but that's no consolation
Plus: Ranbir kapoor, Music, Cinematography
Minus: Loosely narrated Script, ineffective second half
Verdict: Can be watched once in the weekends—No Harm if
missed
